Join us tonight at 6:30 PM as Pastor Jeremiah Nortier continues our study through Chapter 22 of the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith: Of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day. This week we will be covering paragraphs 7 and 8, focusing on the Christian Sabbath and the Lord’s Day.
Topics include:
• Is the Sabbath rooted in creation or only in the Mosaic Covenant?
• Why do Christians gather on the first day of the week?
• How did Christ’s resurrection shape the Lord’s Day?
• What does it mean to keep the Sabbath holy?
• How should believers think about work, recreation, worship, necessity, and mercy on the Lord’s Day?
• Why did the Particular Baptists view the Lord’s Day as a blessing rather than a burden?
Together we will examine key passages such as Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 20:8-11, and Mark 2:27-28 while exploring how the confession summarizes the biblical doctrine of the Sabbath.
