Think you need the thinnest bandsaw blade to cut complex shapes? Think again. In this video, I’ll show you how relief cuts let you handle even the trickiest patterns — no matter what blade you have on the saw.
We’ll start by removing bulk waste quickly, then I’ll walk you through marking and making relief cuts in the right spots to free your blade and keep the cut clean. You’ll see how pivot pockets help with sharp inside corners, why outside curves need fewer cuts, and how you can make nibbling effective.
To prove that blade width is less important than you may think, I will be using a 3/4" carbide tipped bandsaw blade (with a 1/16" kerf).
