I have long had dreams of a utility sink in my basement shop, which would eliminate the need for me to go upstairs to wash my hands, clean paintbrushes, etc. I finally got around to doing it, which involved plumbing in a utility pump to get the effluent into the main drain coming from my kitchen island. My initial attempt to splice in to the pipe using repair unions and PVC glue did not work well, and immediately began to leak. I needed to replace the whole section and use rubber repair sleeves. This required as square cuts on the old pipe as possible, and I ended up coming up with this method - I thought if it independently, but of course, others have likely had the same idea in the past. Other options include using hose clamps or zip ties, but I find this method to be a bit more effective. Your mileage may vary.
