On September 14, 2015 at 09:51 UTC, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) made the first-ever detection of gravitational waves. These had been predicted by Einstein 100 years ago. In this video we examine how General Relativity predicts gravitational waves, what they are, and how they can be detected.
