Yes Steve, the Moon actually orbits the Earth from West to East. In 24 hours, it moves 13 degrees across the sky from West to East in its orbit however the Earth rotates at a much faster 15 degrees per hour making it appear that the Moon is travelling across the sky from East to West. Perspective and relative motion.
