Abstract: The Data Science Learning Community (DSLC.io) started as a group of learners interested in reading one particular data science book together: R for Data Science (commonly referred to as R4DS) by Hadley Wickham and Garrett Grolemund, from which we took our original name, the “R4DS Online Learning Community.” That group of learners grew into a diverse, friendly, and inclusive community of over 17,000 data science enthusiasts and practitioners. In this talk, I will describe how we use Shiny to coordinate this worldwide community, and how you can help us make sure all of our services remain absolutely free for everyone who wants to learn.
