Yekaterina Mikhailova, the country’s No.1 rehabilitation therapist, successfully puts each of her patients back on their feet, yet she needs a walking stick herself. Twenty years ago she was badly injured when she was hit by a rich and spoilt young tearaway on a water scooter. Yekaterina recovered, but, as a result of the injury, she has suffered from severe pains ever since. Over the years she became “married to her work”, stoically resigned to the unlikelihood of anyone coming to love a lame person like herself.
One day, however, a VIP patient and philanthropist, Vlad comes to her for some post-injury rehabilitation treatment. Yekaterina immediately recognizes him as the rich young boy who ruined her life all those years ago, but she cannot bring herself to tell him. Vlad suspects nothing and quickly recovers under Yekaterina's expert supervision. Meanwhile, Yegor, the father of one of Yekaterina’s gymnast patients, begins to show an interest in her. She is totally unprepared for this but soon finds herself falling in love. She starts to blossom out, and this change is noticed by Vlad, who begins to fall in love with her himself. However, Yegor turns out to be a cold, calculating opportunist who only needs Yekaterina to provide a health certificate for his daughter confirming that she is ready to participate in an important sports competition. Devastated by this betrayal, Yekaterina goes into a convulsion which brings on an attack of severe pain. She loses consciousness and is taken to hospital for surgery. During the operation, Vlad learns that Yekaterina is the very girl he injured in the accident twenty years ago.
However, will Vlad, whose love for Yekaterina is completely sincere, be able to rehabilitate himself in her eyes, and will she ever forgive him for what he did to her?
