A central tenet of the Twelver Shia doctrine is the rejection of the first of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, Abu Bakr, who supposedly stole the Caliphate from Ali. However, the Shia opinion of Abu Bakr’s character doesn’t reflect the Quran’s narrative (and the associated historical events) which actually mentions Abu Bakr in a positive light.
