More than 80 Helios streetlights in Tuborg Havn will be refurbished with new LED technology instead of being replaced. The solution significantly reduces energy consumption.
In Tuborg Havn, the area’s Helios luminaires are being refurbished rather than replaced. In collaboration with Signify, more than 80 luminaires are being cleaned, technologically upgraded, and reinstalled as part of a new circular initiative. This reduces energy consumption while preserving the architectural character of the area.
The solution ensures that the area’s visual expression and historical identity are maintained, while significantly reducing energy consumption. The modernized luminaires become approximately 3.5 times more efficient than the original ones. An old luminaire consumes 115 W, whereas a refurbished luminaire uses only 32.7 W. The refurbishment of the luminaires in Tuborg Havn is part of a new initiative from Signify focused on circularity, launched to meet a growing demand for repair and technical upgrading of existing luminaires rather than purchasing new ones.
The program is called Signify Circle and focuses, among other things, on ensuring that luminaires are energy-efficient and can be upgraded and repaired to extend their lifespan as much as possible. The initiative enables the preservation and future-proofing of street and park lighting through comprehensive diagnostics, cleaning, repair, and/or technological upgrades. By reusing the primary structural components, the environment is spared the energy-intensive processes associated with casting and manufacturing entirely new luminaires.
