Hello everyone! Sorry this is a bit late, but I have officially graduated the University of Northern Colorado with my Bachelors in Music Composition! After a long, long journey. I have final gotten my degree and I'm so happy that this journey has came to an end! There are some thank you notes that I must give out in this description before I continue!
I would like to thank the University of Northern Colorado School of Music for giving me this opportunity in the first place. I wasn't the greatest student in high school, but after I achieved my associates degree, I decided to try for a four year school to continue on with my education. UNC was a school I was interested in for a long time and I'm glad that I finally got that chance several years later. No matter what age you are, you can accomplish anything!
I would like to thank my family that has supported me and my music this entire time, to encourage me to keep striving to what I love to do and to give me confidence to continue this as a career. No matter the many times I thought about quitting or my mental breakdowns throughout this journey, I am so glad that I got the guts to continue and finish this well deserved degree
I would also like to thank the colleges that I have made throughout the way, the ones that I got a chance to learn off of, got to perform with and got a chance to become friends with. All of the laughs that we had together made all of this more special and I can't be happier
To all of the incredible faculty that helped me with my journey on the way. To name a few, Dr. Wesley Broadnax Director of Bands, Dr, Tim Feerst Director of Percussion, Dr. Julie Strom Former Director of Percussion, Dr. Daniel Farr Former Assossiate Professor of Bands, Jon Borodach Former Adjunct Faculty of Bands and many more, thank you so much for helping make me dreams become a reality and helping me achieve throughout all these years
Finally, to Ludek Drizhal and Dr. Paul Elwood, two of the kindest men I have the privilege to not only call my mentors, but now as friends. Everything they have taught me over the last four years has helped me change my perspective on the composition world and helped me grow as a writer. You have both taught me skills that I would have never learned outside of this school and helped me figure out some issues not even related to music. Without the both of you, nothing would've been possible and I am so grateful to have both of you on my side for the longest time. Thank you so much
Otherwise, that's it. My journey has come to a close. I don't know if I will continue with a masters degree in the future but until then, I'm going to have some fun and figure out what I want to do for the future. Since I'm also not a big fan of editing, I am posting the recital as it is. Thank you all again for this great journey and let's see how the future goes! Have a great night and stay safe!
