A Canadian subsidiary of a Japanese tier-one automotive supplier produces over 58 million components annually for OEMs, specializing in metal stamping, welding, hydroforming, e-coat, and modular assembly.
Their stamping department includes seven Aida presses ranging from 400 to 3,500 tons, capable of handling materials from 0.6 mm to 6.0 mm thick, supported by efficient SMED die changes, overhead cranes, and in-house maintenance for over 200 dies.
The customer faced setup issues during die changes, damaging pin connectors, but the root cause was excessive vibration from stamping that disconnected laser sensors, leading to feeding problems.
MISUMI proposed a Wireless Transmitter and Output Sensor system to wirelessly transmit power and signals to laser sensors used for part detection, eliminating wiring issues. After implementation, the system has run flawlessly for three months, leaving the customer highly satisfied.
