Danielle SeeWalker is a nationally recognized, Emmy-award winning fine artist, muralist, writer, activist, Húŋkpapȟa Lakȟóta and citizen of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota. Based in Denver, Colo., SeeWalker’s art, activism, and book “Still Here: A Past to Present Insight of Native American People and Culture” centers around her culture, identity, and her history. As a mother of two boys, she wrote “Still Here” recognizing the disconnect between the history she was taught at home versus what is being taught in school, and the need to pass along an accurate Native American narrative. SeeWalker also seeks to redirect a lens to Native Americans today and their current presence in society with an understanding of history.
In this program, she will be in conversation with Clay Jenkinson, sharing her art and her activism, including The Red Road Project, a mission to document through words and visuals the inspiring and resilient stories of Native America.
