A Red-eared Slider turtle (Trachemys scripta ssp. elegans) rests with arms tucked in, in a defensive posture, at the pedestrian island in McGovern Lake at Hermann Park, in Houston, TX, USA. She had been wandering around, probably after laying eggs somewhere, and had decided to rest in the middle of some train tracks. Since I figured that probably wasn't a smart place to linger too long, I moved her off the tracks and to a shady spot. That's where the video begins, and when she decides there's no danger, she gets going.
