As we gear up for Independence Day and look forward to the historic America 250 celebrations, the FAA wants to ensure our skies remain safe. If your holiday decorations include laser light displays, keeping them grounded is a must. High-powered lasers aimed into the night sky can intersect with aircraft, creating a dangerous hazard that can distract or temporarily blind pilots.
Your Holiday Laser Safety Checklist:
• Do properly install your laser light displays.
• Do target specific surfaces like your house, garage, or yard decorations.
• Do NOT point them into the sky!
Let’s keep the stars in our flag shining bright and the skies above safe. Enjoy the holiday, protect the skies, and have a safe 4th of July!
