It was a beautiful summer day in the countryside. J. Grizzle was driving his red tractor down the road, enjoying the fresh air and the sunshine. As he went, he saw a bunch of his friends playing in the fields.
There was Tammy in her fish car, driving around and splashing in the mud. Frank was in his dinosaur car, making roaring noises and pretending to eat the trees. Pinko was in his scissor lift, lifting up and down and pretending to be a crane. And Billy Ray was in his log truck, hauling logs around and making vroom vroom noises.
J. Grizzle waved to his friends, and they waved back. He continued on his way, feeling happy and content.
A little while later, J. Grizzle came to a construction site. There were a lot of big machines working, and J. Grizzle was curious to see what they were doing. He drove his tractor up to the site and got out to take a closer look.
That's when he saw Timmy Uppet. Timmy was a little boy who loved trucks and tractors. He was sitting on the ground, looking up at the big machines with wide eyes.
"Tractor!" Timmy shouted when he saw J. Grizzle.
J. Grizzle smiled. "That's right," he said. "This is a tractor."
Timmy got up and ran over to J. Grizzle. He climbed up onto the tractor and sat in the driver's seat.
"Can I drive it?" Timmy asked.
J. Grizzle laughed. "Of course you can," he said. "But be careful."
Timmy took the controls and started the tractor. He drove it around the construction site, making vroom vroom noises just like Billy Ray.
J. Grizzle and Timmy had a lot of fun together. They played with the big machines and made up stories about them. By the time it was time for Timmy to go home, he was exhausted but happy.
"Thank you for letting me drive the tractor," Timmy said to J. Grizzle.
"You're welcome," J. Grizzle said. "I had a lot of fun too."
Timmy waved goodbye to J. Grizzle and ran off to find Grandpa Uppet. J. Grizzle watched him go, feeling happy that he had been able to make a new friend.
J. Grizzle then got back in his tractor and drove away. He was still smiling as he thought about Timmy and the fun they had had together. He knew that he would never forget this day.
