Before getting too excited about the potential of red light therapy for epilepsy, there are some major limitations and unknowns we need to acknowledge.
Right now, there are no large controlled human trials showing that red light therapy directly reduces seizures in epilepsy patients. There’s also huge uncertainty around the ideal protocols — wavelengths, dosing, intensity, pulsing, frequency, and device differences all vary dramatically across the research.
This is still a very early field, which means we need to approach the science with both curiosity and caution.
