What is "Black Fish Ferris Wheel"? It is the name I added to this OHM advance cassette dated June 1995.
The tape was originally called 6.21.95 (not Black Fish...) and it was for WB executives. Black Fish Ferris Wheel was a name they toyed with and Mark Ryden (the original artist) made the first version of the cover with that name. The names of the songs mostly retain their working titles, but there are several differences, mainly in their endings, cuts and raw mixes.

Between mid 1997 to late 1997, after the One Hot Minute tour limped to an end, the band came together to write a new album with production by Rick Rubin. Its unclear how far these sessions went, and nothing has appeared music-wise apart from “Circle of the Noose.”
These sessions were very fractured, and due to Dave and Anthonys relapses, Fleas personal problems and Daves subsequent leaving of the band, all material from the sessions has remained unreleased officially.
“Circle of the Noose” leaked in early 2016. The song is a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan; he died right around the time this was being recorded, and Flea has listed a 1996 concert of his as one that changed his life. As for the other songs, its unclear how many were recorded. Flea has said a couple, Dave implies more than one, this article mentions they had over twenty in the works, with one (probably “Circle Of The Noose”) already completed. It has been said that a looping section of opening guitar line that appeared on the bands website back in 1997 and 1998 was from “Circle of the Noose,” but that remains unconfirmed, because it’s now inaccessible.
It remained unheard outside of collectors circles until early 2016.

The instrumentals are dated from November 2001. The source is a CD that contained these early mixes had Anthonys guide vocals (you can find the full album on my channel).
Artwork: I took Julian Schnabels original artworks (both album cover and CD single photo) and ran it through Stable Diffusion to make it look like a realistic photography.

The band rehearsed and recorded a session of demos in September of 1998 at Daniel Lanois and Mark Howards El Teatro studio in Oxnard, California, an old converted Spanish language theatre. Many of these songs ended up, in their final versions, on Californication, released the next year. Two tracks from this recording have surfaced officially, both on the Around The World single; a demo version of Parallel Universe and a portion of a longer jam called Teatro Jam. The rest only surfaced via a leak in September of 2014.
The date of September 15, 1998 comes from the CD-R that held the recordings. Theres a chance this is the date that the CD was compiled, not the date that the tracks were recorded.

About the instrumentalized: There are fifteen tracks that contained vocals, I managed to run them on the latest Roformer Model (from 2024) making it a decent job. The full Teatro Session is available in the channel, or in this link:
