Red is the rarest natural hair color in humans – it occurs naturally in only about 1-2% of the population. Red hair originated 100,000 years ago and a DNA study concluded even some Neanderthals had red hair. Sloan, a precocious nine-year-old redhead discovered a news report on the Web citing National Geographic magazine and several geneticists from the Oxford Hair Foundation who said red hair will die out by 2060. Horrified Sloan – who loves the attention of being a redhead – investigates to determine if this is a hoax or indeed the impending fate for all redheads.
