At 223 feet long, nearly nine feet high and over 246,500 lbs., it’s the largest pre-stressed concrete girder manufactured in the United States. Crews installed this record-setting girder in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 on the new southbound Interstate 5 Puyallup River Bridge in Tacoma, WA. Once complete, the new bridge will play a major role in easing congestion and improving mobility on a section of Interstate 5 in Tacoma and Fife.
