Can you imagine jumping in the Harlem River to cool off this summer? Not too long ago, that was a favorite pastime of many New Yorkers. Today, thoughts of raw sewage and pollution might make you hesitate - but today’s guests share how that could change. Siddhartha Sanchez of the Bronx River Alliance, Tracy Brown of Riverkeeper, and Chauncey Young of the Harlem River Coalition join host Tria Case to explore the state of our city’s waterways, discuss innovative campaigns to address our sewage issues and aging infrastructure in the face of climate change, and celebrate the role of community action in restoring their health and ecological function.
