Who really leads your family? Your children or you?
You know how it goes: one more sport, another activity, and suddenly your family schedule revolves entirely around what your child wants to do. It happens so gradually that you hardly notice. Suddenly, you realize everything is about their goals, their preferences, and their busy schedule.
We're sending a message, even if we don't mean it. We're telling kids that life is all about them. That "me first" attitude isn't just rebellion; it's a lesson they're learning, whether we intend it or not. When family time starts getting squeezed out, kids aren't just getting busy; they are learning to think of their needs before others. They often become self-focused. And that deep bond, the one that should be shaping them the most, their relationship with us, starts to suffer.
But there is hope: we can turn this around! We don't need some elaborate plan; what you really need is to reconnect. Make a point to protect family meals, say "no" more often, and make family the center of things. It's all about those small, steady choices making a huge difference in shaping our family dynamic and our kids' hearts!
