Old electronic devices with surface mount electrolytic capacitors are often affected by capacitor leakage.

Here is a brief tutorial describing the process of replacing old, damaged capacitors on a Macintosh IIcx motherboard.

IMPORTANT: I placed the 2 x 10µf 16V capacitors on this board with the wrong polarity in this video. There is a mistake in the screen printing on the IIcx board which shows the wrong polarity for these two caps. They should be placed opposite to what is shown on the screen printing. The guide below shows the correct polarity.
