Dr. Daves Diversions | Re-Cap: Apex Digital TV Converter Repair! @DrDavesDiversions | Uploaded February 2020 | Updated October 2024, 19 minutes ago.
In this video I repair an Apex Digital brand DT250 Digital TV Converter by replacing a bad capacitor.
I've seen an online report of this same problem with the Apex DT250a converter in standby (power light glowing red) but not able to be turned on (green). There, the same electrolytic capacitor, component c8 (capacitor #8) on the power board, was bulging at the top and needed to be replaced to fix the problem.
The replacement capacitor I use in the video is a Panasonic FM 470uF 35v Low-ESR Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor, rated 5000 Hours @ 105C, 20% Tolerance, and in a 10x20mm can, which is larger than the original.
