I planned to cycle across Madagascar in two weeks—just another leg of my journey. After 700 km in 11 straight days, I thought I was done. But then, a doctor from a remote hospital in Ankilivalo Village near Morondava invited me to visit the CSB2 Hospital.

The hospital was in dire condition—only two out of six beds were usable. Patients lay on the floor because there were no mattresses. There was no electricity, no fans, no light at night. I saw a woman giving birth outside, under a tree, because the birthing bed was broken, and it was too hot inside. Some patients didn’t even have the money to buy medicine like Paracetamol.

I shared the hospital’s story, and what happened next was beyond belief. You all stepped in. Donations poured in, and together, we made real change:

💊 Bought medicine, injections, and vitamins
🛏️ Added new mattresses and pillows
💡 Installed a 5.5 kW solar system for lights, fans, and electricity. Entire hospital and staff quarters have lights and fans
🏥 Replaced all hospital furniture—new beds, birthing beds, chairs, tables, cabinets
🩺 Added essential medical equipment—Ultrasound, ECG, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, and more
🎨 Rebuilt the ceiling and repainted the entire hospital
🚑 Designed and built the first and the only bicycle ambulance in Madagascar
🍲 Provided free medicine, baby formula, and food for patients’ families
🧹 Hired a full-time janitor on a biweekly salary to keep the hospital neat and clean

After 2.5 months of work and €20,000 invested, the hospital was completely transformed. To celebrate, we held an inauguration ceremony with the village chief and local dignitaries. The entire hospital celebrated this new beginning.

The people of Ankilivalo, the hospital staff, the doctor, and I THANK YOU. This project proves that when people come together, real change happens. Because no mother should have to give birth under a tree.

As I publish this video, I am back in Madagascar for the third time, to continue supporting the Ankilivalo Hospital. If you would like to support, drop a message.
