The mep group I belong to, Iconic Divide, gave the members an opportunity to make videos that illustrate who we are as editors. I chose the song "Rebel Beat" by The Goo Goo Dolls, because I feel like it symbolizes who I am and how I feel about editing right now. The anime I used are Spirited Away, Laputa- Castle in the Sky, Pokemon, and Anohana. I chose the first three because they were my favorite anime growing up, and I feel like I learned many important life lessons from them that helped to shape who I am today. I also chose to use Anohana because I discovered it after I started editing, so it represents me after I joined the editing world.
A little bit about me -
When I was a kid I remember watching music videos with my friends, and they would always talk about how they wanted to be in music videos one day. Well, I never wanted to be in them... I wanted to make them. Whenever I listened to music I would see images in my head that went in time with the music, and I always thought it would be so fun to be able to make them come to life. So last summer I decided I would try to make it happen and BOOM, here I am today.
The first media I ever used to edit with was Pokemon, so needless to say it has become a huge part of my editing identity. At the time it was the only video footage of any kind that I had on my computer, so I used it by default (I was taking French classes at that time so I would watch episodes of Pokemon in French to practice, and that's why I had Pokemon footage in the first place). It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made because it introduced me to an amazing community of fellow editors, who use both Pokemon and other anime. I felt like I was so welcomed and accepted into this new world of editing, and everyone I met through it has been really supportive and kind to me.
So to all of my subscribers, Iconic Divide, and anyone else who has ever watched one of my videos, THANK YOU. You all encourage me to get better at this every day and to not give up, and for that I can't thank you enough. I couldn't imagine my life without editing, so I guess you're all stuck with me now. Mwaahahaha! ^_^
