Drugs: inspection of drug manufacturing, labeling requirements, purity and quality controls; the research and approval process for new drugs is covered step by step. Food: inspection of food processing facilities, labeling requirements, checks for pesticide on hazardous household chemicals; the F.D.A.'s war against quackery. The daily activities of a supposedly typical American family are used to dramatize the importance of F.D.A. protection to consumers.
