Do you remember Rear Sekai? The new IP announced at the "Bushiroad New Year Grand Presentation 2023" at the beginning of the year is now approaching its first release in Japan. The game, directly handled by Yoshifumi Hashimoto, the same producer as the Rune Factory games and some STORY OF SEASONS titles, along with his team at Hakama.Inc, brings a new hack-and-slash RPG title with a classic top-down view camera angle reminiscent of Rune Factory.

Not only that, but it also boasts the talents of Motoi Sakuraba, the composer responsible for the main themes of the Tales series and Star Ocean games, Shie Nanahara, the artist known for their work in Samurai Warriors 5, and, of course, Minako Iwasaki, an experienced character designer known for their work on all the Rune Factory series. They are all contributing to the development of Rear Sekai under the Bushiroad umbrella.

While the trailer has been circulating for about two months now, it hasn't received much exposure, and there has been limited news about the game outside of Japan, so we're here to give it some coverage. Essentially, "Rear Sekai" is a game that offers an RPG adventure focused on friendship and battles. It depicts the journey of a protagonist named Narumi, who loses their memory in Ellentaros, a city at the farthest edge of the Melvania region. There, you interact with its unique inhabitants and embark on an adventure to find out what you can do for them. However, in the midst of this adventure, they suddenly wake up surrounded by light and find themselves in a completely different world. Which world is their true world? Could it be that the latter is their real world?

Battles in Rear Sekai are based on the "Build" concept, where players can customize various types of weapons, armor, magic, and items with various effects to build a formidable team. Furthermore, the enhanced relationships with their partners will influence their battle style, allowing players to create a unique approach to combat that suits each partner's battle style. Moreover, through interaction with the village residents, especially with various partners, by helping them and giving them gifts, players can strengthen their relationships and potentially turn them into romantic relationships.

Interested in Rear Sekai? Unfortunately, as of now, there's no word from Bushiroad Games about bringing Rear Sekai to the Western market. However, for those of you who want to try it out early and don't mind the language accessibility, you can try the demo, that has been available since a few days ago and is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
