Friends, we cannot understand the resurrection of Christ apart from the Scriptures.

Those who witnessed the resurrection weren't trading in myths, legends, or stories.

Instead, they describe a powerful and vivid truth like an earthquake shaking the very foundations of their lives.

The aftershocks of that great earthquake are still being felt today—especially during the Easter Vigil.

During the Easter Vigil, I shared this homily as our diocese gathered at Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Winona, Minnesota to celebrate the great earthquake of the resurrection; the highest of our liturgies; and the most splendid night of the Church’s year.
