For several years now I have used a 25 point system to judge book prizes that have 10 or more entrants. It makes choosing my favorites easier in that small differences show up much more with that many points rather than using the traditional 1-5 system employed by GoodReads.
Here are the five judging categories I use with 5 points for each subject:
1. Plot structure
2. Characterization
3. Setting and atmosphere of place
4. Writing quality
5. My enjoyment of reading (completely subjective).
