I think that Kingdom Hearts 2 is the best action game ever made, for a number of reasons and the Reaction Commands are a big one. KH2 is an easy game that can picked up and beaten by anyone but offers a higher difficulty with great depth for those who want to challenge themselves. The reaction commands are just like that. To any lower skilled player these can come off as easy, flashy quick time events where all you do is press triangle to win and for the most part that is true. But what I love about them is how seamlessly they work into a battle and how essential they feel to pull off. You don't just sit there and watch a 20 second cutscene where your character does something cool, you quickly interact with an enemy and it really feels like you're doing something cool instead. It avoids the big problem with QTEs and doesn't feel unnecessary or intrusive. Each and every one of them needs to be used in effective ways in order to defeat the enemies. There's dozens of them too, so its not just the big bosses. Almost every regular enemy has one to exploit and they're all memorable. It combines flashiness with a surprising level of depth that both easy mode players and hard mode players can find enjoyment in.
