React Native 0.83 is out, and for once, the release notes open with no user-facing breaking changes. That alone raised a few eyebrows, so we went live to see what actually shipped and whether it’s as calm as it sounds.
In this stream, we break down the biggest updates in React Native 0.83 and what they mean for day-to-day development. We look at React 19.2 landing in native, including the new `Activity` component for hiding UI without unmounting it and `useEffectEvent`, which finally gives a clean solution to stale closures and dependency-array headaches.
