Re Reading Game of Thrones: Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark are best of friends. They're like brothers. Yet can't seem to agree on anything. They argue over the Lannisters, ruling, women, cheating, the past, the future. Ned is lying to his friend and king by not divulging the information that he knows about his petulant sister Lyanna Stark running away to marry Rhaegar Targaryen in secret. This life makes it hard for them to grow closer together. Another obstacle is the king's insistence on not caring about his job and his obsession with the glory days of yesteryear. Through Ned's POV we also get background information about Jorah Mormont and the evil Jaime Lannister. Gil Kidron explores Ned's second chapter and finds out that no one in this story is who they think they are.
