Re Reading Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen is a 13-year-old scared girl who is being married off to a monster who will own her once the wedding is official. Daenerys is there with her brother Viserys, with Jorah Mormont and Illyrio Mopatis, but she's absent from any and all discussions about her life, decisions and future. But when she gets the dragon eggs from Illyrio, and then the white horse from her betrothed Khal Drogo, the dragon wakes in her and she gives us a glimpse of the woman that she will become. In this video Gil Kidron also discusses the nomadic lifestyle of the Dothraki and the animosity between them and the settled society at Pentos, which looks down on them yet is not much better - just more refined and hypocritical.
