Overcoming Fear: Choosing Engagement Over Withdrawal
In this video, I’m talking about the quieter way fear shows up — not as panic or anxiety, but as hesitation, disengagement, and pulling back from life.
Fear doesn’t usually announce itself. More often, it looks like waiting. Like apathy. Like telling ourselves we’ll re-enter once we feel more confident or certain. But that moment rarely comes.
Using the WKRP framework — and especially the P for Positive Psychology — I explore why re-engagement doesn’t require confidence first. It requires participation. Even small decisions, taken while fear is still present, help re-engage the nervous system and rebuild momentum.
Positive psychology isn’t about pretending everything is fine. It’s about choosing the next healthy action, even when things feel unsettled. Awareness matters — but awareness without action can turn into another form of avoidance.
This conversation lives at the intersection of leadership, mental health, creativity, and lived experience. It’s about learning how to stay engaged with life — and with ourselves — without waiting for fear to disappear.
