RCMP Charge Man for Defending His Property from Repeat Offenders
4 Thieves, arriving in stolen vehicles, attempted to rob a mans rural property in south-central Manitoba, but were stopped by the 66-year-old property owner who was armed with a firearm.
Pembina Valley RCMP arrested and charged 3 of the 4 suspects who remained at the scene, but also charged the property owner for discharging his firearm to stop the theft.
Premier Wab Kinew praised the RCMP for laying charges against the property owner as well.
"We can't have people being judge, jury, and potentially executioner (allegedly), though I understand the frustration with crime."
Two suspects were taken into custody, a third was released on an undertaking, and the fourth got away.
