Asleep At The Wheel has released more than two dozen studio albums, but they were always best live. For the uninitiated, the newly released “Live and Large, 1977” is a great introduction. Here, Ray Benson and his signature Eastman (based on the ’61 ES-335 he played for decades) show us a bit from one of the best tracks, “Bump Bounce Boogie.” He’s plugged into an amp made from the chassis of an old Bell and Howell projector.
