How to make a Linux network fileshare using a raspberry pi and a flash drive to be used with Windows clients.

Note: the SSH remote connection needs to be turned on from the initial Pi setup or installed later for this tutorial to work

commands used:
ifconfig
sudo su
fdisk -l
umount /dev/sda1 (note, replace the sda1 with your own device 1. partition be it sdb1 etc.)
fdisk /dev/sda
mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda
mkdir /nas
mount /dev/sda1 /nas/
nano /etc/fstab
in fstab: /dev/sda1 /nas ext3 rw
apt-get update
apt-get install samba samba-common-bin
nano /etc/samba/smb.conf
service samba restart


smb.conf config used:
[share]
comment = raspberrypi share
path = /nas
writeable = yes
browseable = yes
only guest = yes
directory mask = 777
public = yes
