• Description:
In this video tutorial I use a Raspberry Pi 4 to read data from an inexpensive 360-degree LADR/LiDAR (YDLIDAR X4) via USB. Once I'm able to get the distance measurements, I move on to designing a web interface in Python that allows me to visualize the data in a polar chart. I use the JavaScript library D3.js/Plotly (plot.ly/javascript/) for the client-side chart, and the Flask web micro-framework for setting up the server side of the web app. Central to this is the use of Websockets for exchanging the LiDAR data between server and client. I use the Flask-SocketIO module for this purpose.
