Salutations dark passengers, what happens when you are desparate, and must choose between your moral fiber, and acquiring what you need to survive? What does decades of natural disaster & human tragedy do to a person's mindset? Tonight we find out, in Rashōmon by Ryunosuke Akutagawa (1915).

I found this tale initially on the creepypasta wiki, but then discovered it's real roots once I saw the author and publish date. It's an old story, based on a play that is even older. There's even a movie (Rashōmon, 1950, directed by Akira Kurosawa)! I hear from film buffs that it is a legendarily high quality old Japanese film.
