Union Pacific still has two ex SP GP40P-2's. Purchased by SP in for commute service between San Francisco and San Jose. Their passenger careers were short lived, and they were later upgraded with larger fuel tanks and put into freight service, where they became just another GP40-2. This particular unit was working around the Tri-Cities area of Washington (Pacso-Kennewick-Richland) in August of 2018. Here the unit is seen with a local on the former Yackma Branch, at the intersection of Haney Rd and Bryson Rd in Kennewick.
