Check your pocket change. If you run across a 1971 Kennedy half dollar, please look at it. Most stackers get the Half dollars minted between 1965 and 1970 because they are 40% silver. But not the 1971, it is made of copper-nickel. Yet some were minted on a silver planchet as you see here, this coin sold for 13,000 dollars. If you think your 1971 Kennedy Half is silver, look at the reeded edges. If there is a copper ring dead center, this coin is not silver. Silver coins won’t have rings of copper in the center as they are not sandwiched.
So, keep an eye out you might have a 10 thousand dollar coin in your pocket.
