This is Atelopus spumarius, the Pebas stubfoot toad from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. Contrary to most other frogs they are diurnal, that is active during the day and sleep at night. Harlequin Frogs belong to the most endangered of more than 600 species of amphibians in Ecuador.
