ThePianoforever | Rare Climatized 1952 Hamburg Steinway O @ThePianoforever | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated May 12 2024
Steinways are very, very common in the United States, and as such I see them all the time. Many piano stores that I go into, including DC Pianos, will have a handful of used Steinways, but I have never seen one quite like this. Built for tropical climates, rapidly changing humidities, or for frequent transport to different regions, the "climatized" Steinway is a standard piano that has been reinforced to maintain stability across many of its wooden components that are susceptible to humidity changes. The keys, soundboard, rim, side panels, and other components have additional structural support to assist with rigidity and it seems to work well. This piano likely has never been to a humid climate, and has aged excellently with a lovely tone and great action, and a top quality restoration by DC Pianos.
