Chestnut braised pork! Chestnut stewed chicken! Chestnut rice! Chestnut tree mushrooms!
Join me as I travel to the countryside to seek out one of China's lesser-known beauty spots, known as the Chestnut Valley, within Beijing's Huairou district, and sample a very rare type of Chinese cuisine!
Huairou district is huge, and I had never heard of this valley before. But I'd seen people writing about it and posting photos online, so me and my team decided to make the 2 hour drive out of the centre of Beijing to see what all the fuss was about.
And due to being famous for chestnuts, it only made sense that all the food served at guesthouses and restaurants in the nearby villages is chestnut-related. So, I got to eat my very first CHESTNUT BANQUET!
