UPDATE: Soulframe's faction system has changed a lot since I made this short! You now start faction tales at world trees, and then an overworld faction NPC show up when you finish a tale to offer you more. You can also earn standing by selling favours (loot drops you'll automatically pick up as you play), there's no longer a cooldown for swapping factions, and the standing bug after visiting an enclave has been fixed!
