Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba has issued a strong warning over delays in the completion of the renal dialysis unit at Letaba Hospital.
During an oversight visit alongside Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego, Ramathuba confronted senior provincial health officials over the stalled project.
In a heated exchange, she warned senior health officials that she would take action if the contractor is not removed, saying: “I’ll fire you — you’re setting me up.”
Ramathuba said the delays are denying communities access to critical dialysis services, questioning how residents can celebrate public holidays such as Freedom Day while healthcare services remain incomplete.
Officials have since assured that the project is expected to be completed by the end of July, with the premier promising to return to assess progress.
The renal unit is expected to significantly improve access to life-saving treatment for patients in the Mopani district and surrounding areas. #SouthAfrica #News
