The ram pump needs a drive pipe to bring water to the pump. The more ridged the pipe the better flow you will have at the top. The two most common pipes used for the drive pipe are poly pipe and pvc pipe. Both will allow the ram pump to work but PVC pipe is much better at containing the pressure wave. In this video I run a ram pump with a PVC drive pipe and a Poly Drive pipe and show the difference between the two.
