The Ram Pump delivery pipe can be closed at the top of the delivery while the pump is running. This will cause the pump to cycle without an output and the pressure tank will build full pressure allowed by the input head pressure. If there is not enough lift out to maintain back pressure the pump will stop when the delivery pipe is opened at the top after pressure has been built up in the line.
