CHARACTER BIOS, SPOILERS AHEAD FOR DELTARUNE / DANGANRONPA
ralsei is a magic, goat-like prince of the dark from the video game deltarune. ralsei, being a darkner, is an object in the real world that gains its own form when the absence of light allows you to see another side of reality. his aim is to teach a duo of outcasts that fall into the dark world, the human kris dreemurr and the lizard monster susie, how things work. he is a very secretive character, hiding information about a prophecy that is destined to come to pass exactly as it was written. sometimes, he is caught speaking to them while the player of deltarune is looking away. he’s primarily secretive out of fear that, if kris and susie know their fates, it may take away all hope due to the prophecy’s tragic ending. his design is also curious, taking a form similar to asriel dreemurr, only much younger, more socially anxious, and less knowledgeable about social interactions. many have speculated that ralsei’s true form is a pair of red devil horns that used to be worn by kris to make them feel more like they belonged to their adoptive goat monster family. ralsei’s biggest fear is that of a villainous knight unleashing the roaring, a world ending event where the darkness overtakes all light, rendering all darkners to stone and all lightners to be stuck in endless darkness. along the way, ralsei learns more about what it means to be a friend, and slowly but surely, begins to feel less like an object and more like his own person with feelings, despite how he may try to hide it.
chiaki nanami holds the title of the ultimate gamer in the video game danganronpa 2: goodbye despair. at least, she was before she was trapped inside of a maze of death and used as brainwashing material to turn her whole class into murderous psychopaths. after the world was brought to the brink of destruction by the former class 77, now calling themselves the remnants of despair, they were all captured and put into a simulation by an organization known as the future foundation. the goal of the simulation was to bring their minds to a state before they were brainwashed. however, in order for them all to be monitored and studied inside the virtual world, an artificial intelligence was created to watch over them and keep them from trouble. this ai was modeled off the past chiaki, letting all of her friends see her one more time. this chiaki was… unique compared to her original counterpart. she spoke much more robotically and bluntly to her classmates, seemingly unaware of how human conversation usually goes due to her digital creation. she kept her love of video games into her new form, constantly playing games and making references. sometimes she would even forget to breathe because she was so locked into her gaming world. when the simulation begins to glitch and the students begin to murder one another, chiaki is set up to cause the demise of one classmate nagito komaeda. in her following class trial, she admits that she is a traitorous spy and that she must have been the reason nagito met his end. her execution is done in the form of various large sized video game pieces being used to hunt her down, cornering her in a massive tetris-like board where she is crushed by a block. her code remains inside the machine, able to tell her friends that they’re free to make their own choices in life.
