Raja Bhoj described what a Murti means for a worshipper and how it is made. He says Murti itself has the innate characteristic to manifest. Svakaar Lakshana. It has a form and a name. A music composer must have the knowledge of poetry. A Dancer, the knowledge of both poetry and music. An actor must know the Rasas of poetry, music and dance. But the the sculptor should know all, literature, music, dance and drama to create the perfect Murti for worship. The inner flow of Rasa of the Indian Artist was so intense and dynamic that observation of their Art can bring Samadhi to the trained mind. The Artist would do Mantra recitation, meditation and practice austerity for months before asking the Devata,“Please come in my dream to reveal what form should I create.” These are not merely idols. They are the expressions of profound experiences of human evolution.
